In my last post I commented that the scale may not reflect my actual weight "loss." I noticed this before my hiatus. I was becoming frustrated because at my weekly Weight Watcher weigh-ins I was either staying consistent or going up small amounts (like .6 pounds), but at the same time my clothes were getting smaller. In fact, I had gone down a whole pant size!
My doctor reminded me that inches are sometimes a better indicator than the scale. If you're constantly working out, you may be creating muscle (or losing weight on the "inside," as she worded it) and not showing the weight loss on the scale. This was a great reminder for me. I was losing motivation fast because the scale wasn't showing the loss I felt I had achieved.
Inches are the way to go! I need to remember this. I also maybe need to reconsider the wording of my goal. I'm still going to aim for 60 pounds by the middle of September; however, I'm also going to look at dress sizes. I'd like to be at a 20 dress at Maurice's by that time. I'm picking Maurice's because they run smaller than Old Navy, and there's one close by so I can try on clothes there. It's important to pick a store because sizes vary depending on store. For example, I can wear a size 3x at Maurices but I need a 4x at Target and sometimes I can wear a 2x at Old Navy. <sigh> I wishes sizes were consistent ...
